Catherine Popesco was born in Paris and is of Romanian descent. She has dual French and American nationality - her jewellery collection is known in the USA as 'La Vie Parisienne'.
Catherine uses the wonderful treasures of French artistic heritage and style to create timeless classics. Each piece is handmade from original molds and stampings found in the old factories and workshops of Paris, some dating back to the late 1800s. This veritable treasure trove has enabled her to bring these wonderful Art Nouveau and Art Deco designs to the modern world and we thank her for it!
The jewellery is made from 'antique silver', an old process of placing a layer of silver over copper to give a vintage look. The jewellery is then enamelled and set with Swarovski crystals. Some pieces are made with 'plique-a-jour' which is a glass-like enamel and looks just like stained glass, letting the light stream through - the same technique used by Lalique in the early 1900s. |
